Although my kids are older – teen and twenty-somethings – they still get an Easter basket. I even send an Easter box to my grown and flown daughter who lives out of state.
Every year it gets a little more challenging to find something they would enjoy finding in their baskets. Some things are easy, like their favorite candies, so I add that every year.
I wish I could find more things that would work for all three of them, which can be difficult as I have a son and two daughters.
Most of the time, I try to find something that each child would specifically enjoy. For example, my son likes to fish and I have put fishing lures in his basket in the past.
This year, I created a list of possibilities so I will be on the lookout for these items when I am out shopping. If you are stuck for ideas this year, you might want to consider some of these:
Card games/Dice game – Growing up with me, my kids have played a lot games. Now that they have their own places, I like to stock their game closet. Favorites are Left, Center, Right, Uno, or Cards Against Humanity Extension Packs.
Drink holders – Funny ceramic coffee mugs, team water bottles, insulated travel mugs, beer koozies, wine glasses or charms. (I did mention I had twenty-somethings.)
Subscriptions – Magazines are easy to fit in Easter baskets with a note about the subscription. Another idea is the Beauty Box from Walmart. It’s seasonal so it comes four times a year. You can also check out Cratejoy for more subscription box ideas.
Scented items – Only my daughters enjoy getting candles or foaming soap, but all of my kids love the scented wall plug ins. They freshen up a dorm room very nicely.
Video games – No, they never outgrown them. I usually rely on gift cards here – Xbox Live, Nintendo eShop, GameStop, Steam – but you can also get an actual game to place in their Easter basket.
T-shirt – This is a great item to personalize your teen’s Easter basket. There is a T-shirt for every interest. I have included spirit wear, funny sayings, favorite animals, activities they like to do, etc. Just roll them up to fit nicely in the basket.
Shoes – Flip flops and Slides are must have Easter basket items. They will be needed for the upcoming summer months, sports seasons or just to run out to get the mail.
Laptop Stickers – I love to see the kids personalize their laptop cases. I even did my own this year. Redbubble has a great search feature for you to put in your teen’s favorite thing – reading, baseball, Pugs, ice cream, etc. – and find a sticker that says who they are.
Spa Stuff – Ok, admittedly, this works best for girls. My son is not crazy about bath bombs, face masks, lotions, loofahs, bath salts, etc. However, I have given him a nail brush, clippers, unscented hand cream and chapstick.
Extra Phone Chargers – My kids have gone through dozens of chargers over the years. They take them everywhere and accidentally leave them at friend’s houses or in cars and drop them out of backpacks or pockets. Look for colorful bundles like this one to avoid the “you took my charger” argument.
Car Accessories – When you have drivers, you have several options for Easter basket gifts – organizers, phone holders, ice scrapers (where I live, it has snowed on Easter), steering wheel covers, tire gauge, cleaning wipes and air fresheners. I love these drink holder coasters!
Socks – I always buy my kids holiday socks which they love to wear when they are lounging in the house or their dorms. They are fun and colorful and roll up nicely in the Easter basket.
Hand Sanitizer – Long before Covid, I bought my kids pocket sized hand sanitizer to put in their backpacks, purses, cars, etc.
Photo Frame – This is another easy item to add and personalize. Dollar Store frames come in smaller sizes and I can print off pictures of the kids with friends, family or even the family pets.
Books – Do you have kids who like to read? Or journal? Or sketch? Or color? Head to the book or stationary of the store and look for something that might be a good fit for your teen.
Colorful pens/markers – My kids all color code their notes, calendars and planners. They love multi color highlighters, gel pens, felt tip markers, pens and pencils. Even in recent years, my teens enjoyed a new box of crayons to express their creativity.
Spring pajamas – As part of our Christmas tradition, my kids always get a new pair of pajamas. When spring approaches, it is too hot to wear those to bed. Sleep shorts and a matching tee might become our Easter tradition.
Hair accessories – My girls love hair ties and scruncis and when my son played soccer, he used elastic headbands to keep his long hair out of his eyes. Brushes, clips and styling products are great gifts, too.
Popsockets – My kids love these and ask for new ones every year on their Christmas wish list. They wear them out so fast, I might have to include one in their Easter basket, too. I love to get personal ones that reflect their interests.
Perfume/Cologne – I love the sampler packs or spray bottles for Easter baskets. They are usually smaller and not too expensive.
Beach/Pool Accessories – Sunscreen, goggles, beach balls, sunglasses, diving toys, aloe vera gel, towels, sun visor, etc.
Fidget toys – Stress balls, bubble poppers, Rubiks Cube, slime, snap bracelets, spinners and even retractable ball point pens.
Event tickets – Make this a family event or for your teen and their friends. Concerts, how to lessons, sports, tours or any other event of interest for your teen.
Kitchen gadgets – Even if your teen doesn’t like to cook, they might love a kitchen gadget that makes enjoying their favorite food easier. Try ice cream scoops, egg slicer, apple peeler, fruit baller, and for the over 21 crowd, a wine aerator.
Workout supplies – My teens all enjoy a good work out. If yours does too, consider including weightlifting gloves, resistance bands, jump ropes, gym locks or glow in the dark running bands for running at dusk.
Rainy Day Must Haves – I love this micro sized umbrella. It’s small enough to fit in a backpack, purse or even a large jacket pocket. Ponchos are also great for events or just getting caught in the rain.
Cell phone cases – Phone cases are another easy to personalize item. Your teens might also enjoy cases that have slots for ID/cards/money (as long as they don’t often misplace their phone), ring kickstands for propping the phone up or other multi function cases.
Lunch boxes – Lunch boxes are used for more than just lunch. What about a snack in the car on the way to practice or work? My college kids pack one to snack from all day as they go from class to class without a lunch break.
Selfie Stick or Tripod – If your teens don’t have one, a selfie stick or tripod is a fun and functional Easter basket item. It is great for not only taking better selfies, but for recording videos and taking pictures for class or sports.
Selfie Light Ring – If your teen is recording or using their phone for Zoom, they might appreciate a selfie light ring. It takes the shadows off their face when they are sitting in a darker room.
Bluetooth speaker – If your teens used car doesn’t have bluetooth, a bluetooth speaker is a nice addition. This one is made to fit in the car’s cup holder. Waterproof bluetooth speakers are great for the shower.
Tools – Everyone needs a simple toolkit with screwdrivers, needle nose pliers, a hammer, retractable measuring tape, Allen wrenches, duct tape, etc.
Earphones – All my kids have back up sets to their earphones as they don’t want to be caught at the gym, walking around campus or at lunch without earphones. No matter what type of device they have, they will still need a cheap set to fit into school computers or gym equipment.
Jewelry – While that might be a bigger ticket item than you want to spend in an Easter basket, it is still an option with cosmetic jewelry. You can also consider jewelry cleaners, watch bands, ring trays or travel storage.
Lanyard – My teens love their lanyards. It was their way to display their team spirit, favorite sayings or interests while functioning as their keyring and id holder. This is another way to add some personalization to the Easter basket.
Cosmetics or Make up – This is an easy go to for my kids. I fill their Easter Baskets with replacement sponges, brushes, favorite lip balm, make up removers, self tanners, whitening strips, etc.
Wallets/Crossbody purses – This is a fun way to include money or gift cards already filled in. I would also add scratch lottery tickets or a credit card sized phone charger.
Silly kid stuff – My kids still enjoy the simple toys from their childhood – silly string, playdough, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and water guns. I usually include a few of these dollar store items just for fun.
